Facebook may launch a standalone camera app to encourage way too much livestreaming

Facebook is on a live streaming tear these days, and a report indicates it could go even deeper into photo and video with a new standalone app.

The social network is developing a camera app, according to the Wall Street Journal - not to be confused with the already-existent Instagram. A prototype reportedly lets users go directly to their camera, then share their snap on Facebook-run properties.

Another rumored feature would let users who are recording a video with the app flip it into a live stream. With most Facebook Live video coming from media outlets, brands and celebrities these days, letting regular users begin a stream with the press of a button while they're already in the process of recording could prompt more people to give it a go.

In fact, it could lead to a deluge of live streams, which may be annoying to friends and family yet good news for Mark Zuckerberg and Co.
Photo finish

As the Journal speculates, the camera app is a sign Facebook is feeling the heat of declining original user content.

We've reported in recent weeks about this problem and Facebook's plans to staunch it, including potentially letting users receive tips for posts.

A Facebook spokesperson sent me this statement in regards to original content sharing on the network: "People continue to share a ton on Facebook; the overall level of sharing has remained not only strong, but similar to levels in prior years."

As for the camera app, Facebook won't comment on rumor or speculation, I was told.

Falz Knocks Basketmouth Out As Host Of The MTV Big Friday

Fans of The Big Friday Show will be enthralled when it debuts a new season on MTV Base Channel 322 on Friday April 29, 2016.

The revamped show has been changed to The Bigger Friday Show with singer, rapper, actor, model, ambassador and lawyer, Folarin ‘Falz’ Falana, as its host.

Falz the Badt Guy will be taking over from comedian, Basketmouth who was the lesser show’s previous host.

The singer is expected to infuse his youthful ambiance and humorous personality into the show as everyone expects it to be a hit.

The organizers have also assured its millions of viewers that their Friday nights henceforth will be different, fun-filled and always worth looking forward to as its past editions of The Big Friday Show featured parody videos, celebrity pranks and entertainment news highlights.

Folarin Falana, 25, better known by his stage name Falz is a Nigerian rapper who began his career while in secondary school after forming a group called “The School Boys” with his friend before his professional career as a music artiste began in 2009.

He shot into limelight after his song titled “Marry Me” (featuring vocals from Poe and Yemi Alade) won him a nomination in the “Best Collaboration of The Year” category at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

With Falz’s The Bigger Friday Show, the producer’s modus operandi include to ‘enhance audience participation and interaction from especially young African audiences, producers of the show are encouraging participation in the #BFSChallenge as interested viewers can be part of it by submitting personalized content on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter using the hashtag #BFSChallenge’.

Falz had earlier been rumored to be dating Nollywood actress Funke Akindele after they both won at the just concluded Africa Magic Movies Award (AMAA) as Best Actor (Comedy) – Folarin Falz Falana for “Jenifa’s Diary” and Best Actress (Comedy) – Funke Akindele for “Jenifa’s Diary”.

The Bigger Friday Show promises to be a combination of ‘entertainment and comedy’ and is a new campaign spearheaded by MTV Base called ‘My Life, My Base’.

He was also nominated in the “Best Rap Act of The Year” and “Best New Act to Watch” categories at the same event. He currently owns an independent record label called Bahd Guys Records.

Falz is undisputedly one of the fastest rising stars in Nigeria and his stint in Jenifa’s diary has positioned him for a life as an actor should he choose.

Best browsers 2016: fast, safe and flexible

The right web browser can vastly improve your experience online, with speed, security and variety of add-ons all playing a part. In addition to the regular suspects of Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Opera, there are plenty of more specialised browsers ready to bring you a new perspective - and that's before you bring Microsoft's new Edge browser into the equation.

To help you get the speed, security and flexibility you need, we've gone through the list with a fine tooth comb and picked out what we think are the five best free browsers for Windows PC users in the world right now.
Mozilla Firefox

Constant updates, add-ons and high performance across all platforms, especially Windows PCs, make Mozilla Firefox one of the most popular web browsers on the planet. Its intuitive interface lends itself to beginner, and the high level of customisation makes sure advanced users are equally well served.

Mozilla Firefox supports a huge array of third-party extensions
Firefox has tabbed browsing at its heart, but its huge array of add-one are what really set it apart, offering all kinds of ways to tinker with the browsing experience. Security is exceedingly tight thanks to the constant stream of updates, and a test last year showed that only Internet Explorer is faster.

Here's what Facebook's AI can do for your News Feed

Facebook may be busy with virtual reality, chatbots, and 360-degree cameras, but the social network hasn't forgotten about your News Feed.

In fact, its latest work with artificial intelligence may make change the ever-scrolling landscape of our status updates and posts.

The company revealed concepts during its F8 developer conference for how AI can augment the platform. Facebook's Applied Machine Learning team has been working on overdrive, conducting nearly 50 times as many experiments on the site's AI algorithm a day than compared to last year, producing some intriguing uses along the way.

What can all that processing power and boundless parameters do for your Facebook feed?

Well, the firm wagers that all that deep learning could come in handy in lowering language barriers, searching through image albums, and helping the visually impaired "see" a photo.
Seamless searching and sharing

According to Facebook, half of all its users don't speak English, and few are fluent in the language of another group of users. One aspect Facebook's AI is working on is the ability to understand context from speech.

By being able to understand abbreviations, emoticons, or regional phrases from across the world, Facebook could instantly translate posts from friends you've met abroad - or international news sources - with better accuracy than an average copy-paste translation tool.

Another tool that would be of use to any fervent Facebook photographer is the ability to search albums by content. By typing "snow," "lake," or "suede jacket" into the search bar, the AI can actually detect images featuring those subjects, saving you from having to scroll through your post history for an hour just to show a friend that sweet jacket you took a picture of at a flea market last year.

Best phone 2016: the best smartphones we recomend

Update: The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge reviews are here - see where they land in our updated best smartphones list!

MWC is over, and we've had the big hitters appear. The LG G5, with its modular design, was one of the darlings of MWC 2016 (alongside the Samsung duo, of course) and with the HTC One M10 looking like it's still going be a month away - and likely to be called the HTC 10 - there's a lot coming down the line.

If none of those take your fancy and you want the best phone right now, well, this is the place to be (although we would recommend waiting for the new phones to emerge to see if you can save some cash on 2015's models).
Luckily for you, at TechRadar we check out every phone under the sun, putting the ones that matter through our rigorously vigorous testing process to create our indepth mobile phone reviews.

With so many to choose from, we've spent hours whittling them down to a top ten, taking into account the power, specs, design and most importantly: value for money, although we'll always point you in the direction of the latest handsets to help you find the best smartphone.

After all, nobody wants to be carting around a phone that won't be getting any updates in a year's time, right?

So whether it's one of the many slick Android handsets, the latest iPhone or one from a range of other cool operating systems, we've extensively tested the top smartphones so you don't have to.

Here are our rankings for the best smartphones around, currently available in

Sony Xperia Z5 Compact

A compact beast with a splendid price

OS: Android 5.1 | Screen size: 4.6-inch | Resolution: 720x1280 | RAM: 3GB | Storage: 32GB | Battery: 2,700mAh | Rear camera: 23MP | Front camera: 5.1MP

The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact is another in the line of smaller handsets from the Japanese brand, packing in all the power into a smaller, more manageable phone.

It's got all the same power credentials as the Xperia Z5 and Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, but has the added bonus of being a lot more pocketable.

The main reason you'd go for this phone is that it's a dinkier device, with a 4.6-inch screen combined with the strong camera, waterproofed chassis and allows you to hear all your audio in beautiful upscaled sound quality.

Battery life could be better, but it's no worse than a lot on this list - and Sony certainly has a unique design that plenty like to fondle.

  HTC One M9

A great phone with a phenomenal build quality

OS: Android 5.1 | Screen size: 5-inch | Resolution: 1920x1080 | RAM: 3GB | Storage: 32GB |Battery: 2840mAh | Rear camera: 20.7MP | Front camera: 4MP

The key thing about the HTC One M9 is the design: it's beautiful, and the 'jewellery-grade' finish and attention to detail does hit you the second you pick this phone up for the first time.

HTC has also worked hard to make sure it's suite of impressive features aren't missing, so the front-facing Boomsound speakers really offer some impressive audio, and the internal sound enhancement is strong too. The Sense overlay - the user interface that sits on top of the 'normal' Android operating system - is one of our favourite too, with a great array of features that we found genuinely useful.

The camera has been boosted to 20.7MP, although it doesn't have the impressive snapping power of some of the other phones on the market. It still offers good pictures though, and this is a lovely package to consider.

 iPhone 6S Plus

The best phablet you can buy

OS: iOS 9 | Screen size: 5.5-inch | Resolution: 1920 x 1080 | RAM: 2GB | Storage:16GB/64GB/128GB | Battery: around 2750mAh | Rear camera: 12MP | Front camera: 5MP

If you're OK with a larger iPhone, then you're in for a treat with the iPhone 6S Plus. It packs all the same upgrades as the smaller 6S - namely the innovative 3D Touch screen and upgraded camera - and fixes some of the flaws we all hate.

The battery is larger, and while the screen is Full HD (with a really great ability to show colours) this is easily the longer-lasting of the two iPhones, meaning you won't have to reach for the charger as often.

The camera is actually better than on the iPhone 6S, with optical image stabilisation providing sharper and brighter images thanks to mechanical help.

If you're an Apple fan looking for a 'bigger' experience, this is the phone for you.

Full review: iPhone 6S Plus

Also consider: You'll obviously want to look at the iPhone 6S as the smaller option here - the reason to go smaller would be if you're not a fan of the phablet and want the lower cost. In the interest of fairness the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ has to be mentioned here as another brilliant phablet, but Apple fans will consider that sacrilege.

 Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+

A beautiful phablet that will win many admirers

OS: Android 5.1 | Screen size: 5.7-inch | Resolution: 1440x2560 | RAM: 4GB | Storage: 32GB/64GB | Battery: 3000mAh | Rear camera: 16MP | Front camera: 5MP

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ is still one of our favourite phones around - despite the S7 and S7 Edge arriving, a supersized version of the S6 Edge with gorgeous lines and a larger battery, more features to the curved edge and generally improvements all round.

This means it has one of the best cameras around, more RAM (enabling higher-power applications and slicker day to day use) and a really swift fingerprint sensor.

The Super AMOLED display is large and wonderful for both web browsing and movie watching - but really, the main reason you'd buy this phone is to have the most powerful Samsung phone out, and also one of the best-looking - and now it's dropping in price, it's shooting up our list.

LG G4

A brilliant, great value smartphone

OS: Android 5.1 | Screen size: 5.5-inch | Resolution: 2560 x 1440 | RAM: 3GB | Storage: 32GB |Battery: removable 3,000mAh | Rear camera: 16MP | Front camera: 8MP

LG is always one of the best value manufacturers, and with the LG G4 it's -again - got one of the top smartphones around while not charging a huge amount for it.

The leather back is a unique feature, and will make your phone stand out among the swath of glass and metal offerings.

Its large, expansive screen is one of the best on the market, the 16MP laser auto-focus camera takes some cracking shots and while the volume and power buttons are on the back, they're very easy to hit on a phone this size.

It's got all the power and performance of the phones around it in this list, but for a much lower price - but the successor, the LG G5, has been launched and with its modular design looks like a big upgrade, so perhaps it's worth waiting until that lands before you make a decision.

 Samsung Galaxy S7

One of two five star phones from Samsung

OS: Android 6 | Screen size: 5.1-inch | Resolution: 1440 x 2560 | RAM: 4GB |Storage:32GB | Battery: 3000mAh | Rear camera: 12MP | Front camera: 5MP

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is a phone that initially looks just like the S6 from last year - but pick it up and you'll see there's a world of difference.

Firstly, the rear of the phone feels much nicer thanks to a curved back (through a process called 3D Thermo Forming), it's now water resistant and a microSD slot is a welcome feature to return, after it was dropped last year.

The camera is just brilliant - it's lower in megapixels but improved in quality. You'll get brilliant pictures time and again, and you'll want to keep trying it in different scenarios. It's a great phone that you'll be happy to pull out of your pocket.

Actress Toyin Aimakhu’s Ex-boyfriend “Seun Egbegbe” Blasts Her, Calls Her A Prostitute & An Ingrate

Seun Egbegbe is speaking again. Anyway, this is coming up after weeks of Toyin Aimakhu going on instagram to call off their relationship, saying she wouldnt appreciate if nobody links her to him again.
In an exclusive chat with Best of Nollywood, the film maker said he did all he could to satisfy the actress, but she had her own plans. He spoke on her alleged kidnap, and the news of her phones being seized by him which went viral. Enjoy!
On the fateful day I left Toyin at home where we both live and went for a meeting, she left for a location and hours later my phone started ringing and people started saying the ‘prostitute you put at home is crying on instgram over another man.’
I called Toyin immediately and I said what is this I am hearing and that even if you are going to do anything why didn’t you tell me you have a boyfriend so i can know what to tell them?
I expected her to remove it but hours later it was there and I had to rush to the location where I seized her phones but I left my range rover which I had been allowing her to drive to shore up her image as a Nollywood star with her though.
A few hours later I saw about 10 missed calls and I called back it was one Taiwo Adepekan she is an upcoming actress who said that she was coming with Toyin to beg me and I said she should finish her job because what do I want to do with the phone anyway,it was because of the love I have for Toyin that made me take her phones Cos I thought she was making a fool of her self and was also being unfair to our relationship. I would have dropped her phone eventually cos when I took her phone she still had my range rover anyway.
Hours later,I started getting calls again that Toyin has been kidnapped and they alleged that I was the one that kidnapped her and I was shocked beyond words. I then got a call from Taiwo again saying Toyin had gone to report to a woman in Alausa and she was angry with Toyin that why are you doing this, he took just your phone while you still had his range rover so why are you doing this?
I am shocked Toyin behaved this way, when we started dating I had 2 cars a range sports and Honda crosstour which was stolen, I gave Toyin the range while I took cabs around town spending an average of 10,000 daily and I gave her the best to make her happy and I don’t know why she will repay my love, kindness and all with all this defamation of character and destruction of my name?,” he concluded bitterly.

Big Loss To The Industry Nigeria Hiphop Singer Dead

Multi-talented Nigerian entertainer Muyiwa ‘Nomoreloss‘ Osinuga has passed on after a brief illness.

Sources close to the veteran singer confirmed the news this afternoon, nonetheless the actual cause of death remains unknown.

This is a big blow to the music industry. Nomoreloss’ music career spawned evergreen hits like “Iyawo Asiko” and “Ololufe”.

Most recently he collaborated with Yemi Alade on “Oro Re”
